This species is gaining popularity among luthiers looking to recreate vintage tones. Our stock is sourced from New Hampshire. It is absolutely pristine, without flaws of any kind. A natural beauty. Leo Fender's first Esquires and subsequent "Nocasters" used Northeastern Pine. For almost 2 years it was his tonewood of choice as he began building the Fender legacy. When milled and routed to a Tele or Strat style body it will weigh in at less than 3.5 pounds/1.6 kilos. This is lighter than most of the swamp ash available in today's market.
The world's first solid body electric guitar was built by Leo Fender built in 1949 using Pine. It was known as a Snake Head Esquire. For Fender's 50th Anniversary the Custom Shop made 50 of these guitars. If you're a tele fanatic and a builder looking to recreate vintage tone, or to build a reproduction of the electric guitar that started it all, you're looking in the right place. . Our stock is absolutley beautiful (and hard to find).
